The Acura RDX has always offered extraordinary value for a premium SUV. Yet it offers more features, fantastic performance, and a uniquely handsome style that its competitors just can't match. With the Acura RDX A-Spec and Platinum Elite models, this years lineup showcases that it is truly one of the most distinctive SUVs on the road.
Depending on the trim, the 2020 Acura RDX comes with one of three excellent sound systems, each controlled by a colour, dual touchscreen display. Â Base model buyers enjoy premium sound through an AM/FM/MP3/SiriusXM/HD radio with Windows Media audio playback and nine-speakers. Tech and Elite owners move up to Acura's ELS Studio Premium system with twelve speakers and all of the previous features. A-Spec and Platinum Elite models get the ELS Studio Premium with sixteen speakers. All systems include a subwoofer and feature a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Wi-Fi tethering,Bluetooth Streaming Audio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
All
2020 RDX trims come loaded with technologies that make it one of the
most
comfortable and safest vehicles on the road today. Standard driver
assist
technologies on the new RDX include Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise
Control
with Low-Speed Follow, and a Blind Spot Information (BSI) system with a
Rear
Cross Traffic Monitor (all but base trims). Â Collision
Mitigation Braking,
Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning systems also come
at no
extra charge on every 2020 RDX. Notable convenience technologies include
Acura
Navigation with Voice Recognition (excluding base trims), a multi-angle
rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, a Colour TFT Multi-Information
Display, and a 10.2" HD colour centre display with True Touchpad
Interface.
The 2020 RDX interior meets all expectations when it comes to luxury, comfort, and convenience. Acura's Active Noise Cancellation, along with Active Sound Control and an acoustic windshield keep things hush-hush on the inside. Every RDX trim also comes with Dual-zone automatic climate control with an air-filtration system, a HandsFreeLink bilingual Bluetooth wireless mobile phone interface, push-button start, and twelve-way power adjustable driver and passenger seats each with a two-way power lumbar support and two-position memory. Heated leather front seats and remote start round out some of the many interior highlights.
Along with the previously mentioned safety technologies, the 2020 Acura RDX also employs a variety of passive safety technologies, as well. Honda's Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, for example, keeps vehicle occupants exceptionally safe in the event of a collision by distributing energy evenly throughout the vehicle body and away from passengers. All RDX models also come with anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, Brake Assist, a full suite of airbags including dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags, and childproof rear door locks.
Regardless of trim, Acura offers the RDX with a 272-horsepower, four-cylinder 2.0-litre, 16-valve, Direct Injection, turbocharged VTEC engine that gets respectable fuel economy at 11.0/8.6/9.9 City/Hwy/Combined. All models also come with a ten-speed automatic transmission with Grade Logic Control, and Acura's advanced Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). SH-AWD continuously directs power to match available traction, driver input, and weight distribution. Super Handling All-Wheel Drive provides seamless power transitions and exceptional agility.
Carefully crafted angles and muscular proportions announce that this SUV means serious business on the road. For 2019, the RDX is wider and longer than the previous model, boosting its impression of aggressive style and high-end performance. All-LED lighting includes Acura's "Jewel Eye" headlamps. Combined with the RDX's stunning lines, they complete a look that's as modern as it is beautiful.
Previous generations of the RDX shared a platform with its Honda Civic and CR-V cousins, but for 2019 the RDX's platform is entirely its own. This new platform frees the RDX to be a true premium SUV, with no compromises. It uses Acura's Advanced Compatibility Engineering to create one of the strongest, safest bodies in its class.
The interior of Acura's Precision Concept show car served as the basis for the RDX's new cockpit. This concept fuses the best of driver-focused design with a cutting-edge control panel called the True Touchpad Interface (TTI). This ergonomic wonder falls easily to hand beside you on the lower part of the centre console and allows you to work the controls for entertainment, ventilation, and more. Where you touch the TTI corresponds to where you're virtually "touching" the console display on the dashboard, like the touchpad on a laptop. This means there's no more reaching for the radio volume control on the console screen only to hit a pothole and have your finger miss and hit the defrost instead. The TTI is customizable and can be controlled by voice, as well. It's a next-generation ergonomic wonder.
The 2019 RDX gets its power from a 272 hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine. With direct-injection and Acura's VTEC variable valve timing, this engine generates 280 lb-ft of torque. Power meets the pavement via Acura's Super-Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). The turbocharger produces no turbo lag, and 100 kph comes up from a standing start in as little as 5.7 seconds. The suspension offers Sport and Sport Plus modes depending on whether you're commuting or carving up the S-curves on a mountain highway.
The 2019 RDX delivers a full suite of entertainment and connectivity options. 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity comes standard on all trim levels. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto offer access to your apps and soundtracks. Every trim level provides Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Lane Departure Warning. A heads-up display is available on some trim levels.

Infotainment in the 2019 Acura RDX A-Spec begins with a 10.2-inch display controlled by a new True Touchpad interface just ahead of the shift buttons on the console. Included with the Acura RDX A-Spec are:
The 2019 Acura RDX A-Spec is a study in movement. The new design for the RDX incorporates forward movement potential and a fast pace as its core motif. Whether sitting at the curb or driving down the highway, the RDX appeals to our need for speed. Design elements include an upward curve to the body panel lines and a slope to the roofline to create a pinched, fastback-style rear end that balances the raked windscreen and long, low-dipping hood up front. The A-Spec blacks out many accents for a more sport-tuned appeal.   Inside, the 2019 RDX A-Spec uses excellent materials and workmanship as a basis for its luxurious design. Emphasis is on comfort and usability, but touches hinted towards speed and excitement are also added as well. Red accents around the interior, including in the instrument cluster and seating, mark the A-Spec apart from the other RDX trim points.
Safety is important, of course, and the 2019 Acura RDX A-Spec comes with a full suite of safety items for both active and passive safety. Many of the driver's aids that are included in the A-Spec model are part of that attention to safety.
ÂThe Acura RDX A-Spec comes with a lot of excellent features. These include:
Under the lightweight aluminum hood of the 2019 Acura RDX A-Spec is a well-tuned and turbocharged new four-cylinder engine that produces 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission is aimed towards sporty performance with paddle shifters as standard in the A-Spec model.    Four drive modes are available for the 2019 RDX driver, starting with Comfort and going through to Sport, Sport Plus, and Snow. Each adds an element to the drivetrain to complement performance or safety, depending on need. In Sport+, for example, all systems are tuned towards power delivery with the RDX A-Spec being capable of reaching 62 km/h in less than 7 seconds.
ÂDirect and linear steering are key to the stiff and balanced chassis of the 2019 Acura RDX with its A-Spec package offering some sporty highlights such as polished metal pedals and red interior highlights. Super Handling All-Wheel Drive not only boosts safety, but improves traction for performance driving as well. Standard on the Acura RDX A-Spec are 255/45R20 Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires to take that even further.
The 2019 Acura RDX A-Spec is on the showroom floor at West Side Acura. Alberta buyers will be interested in the low cost and high performance of this excellent crossover-SUV.
