A Guide to Warranty Options

The general categories of warranty options for certified pre-owned and new vehicles are bumper-to-bumper warranties and the powertrain warranty. Read below to find out more about the major differences between these two vehicle warranty categories.

A bumper-to-bumper warranty offers the most protection for the major components of your vehicle. It literally covers the major components from the front end to the back bumper. Parts that regularly wear down without any malfunction are not eligible for replacement or repair under this warranty. The other vehicle warranty option is a powertrain warranty, which is far less extensive. It applies to the propulsion system, excluding some parts. If your engine has a major malfunction, this would be covered under the powertrain warranty. When your bumper-to-bumper warranty expires, you may be able to get a powertrain warranty because it is more limited.
