Who Owns Acura?

Honda Motor Company founded a luxury division for the North American market in 1981. Instead of creating a brand within the Honda brand, executives decided to make a whole no nameplate that would take on the luxury segments. Acura vehicles made their introduction in 1984, and the rest is history. With the success of Acura, other Japanese automakers decided to replicate Honda’s recipe by introducing their own luxury offshoots; Toyota and Nissan revealed Lexus and INFINITI. However, Acura pushed the envelope to further differentiate themselves, and the Acura NSX was the perfect example. An aluminum-built sports car that was built to take on the likes of Ferrari succeeded in its venture.

Where are Acura Models Made?

Originally Acura vehicles came directly from Japan; however, as time moved on, Acura executives invested heavily in North American manufacturing. Currently, The Acura TLX, Acura ILX, Acura RDX, and Acura MDX are built in four plants located in the state of Ohio. Four plants; Marysville, East Liberty, Anna, and Russells Point, are vital to the brand’s identity and capabilities.
